Due to travel restrictions related to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we unfortunately had to cancel this event. We hope to have Fischel join us next academic year.
Joseph Fischel, Associate Professor of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Yale University, joins us at the University of Rochester for the 2020 Rainbow Lecture.
About the talk:
In the past few years, many states have enacted or expanded their criminals laws against bestiality, now often termed ‘animal sexual abuse.’ Honing in on one such reform in Louisiana, Fischel examines what proscriptions against sexual contact with nonhuman animals might tell us about sexual justice politics more broadly: in law and life, on campus and off, and across the species divide.
