This program is specially designed for individuals who are currently certified in AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) and are passionate about teaching these vital life-saving skills to others.
This comprehensive, multi-part training course prepares participants to become effective and confident instructors of BLS and Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED classes. Whether you are a healthcare professional looking to expand your skills or an individual committed to community wellness, the AHA BLS Instructor Program offers an exceptional opportunity to learn, teach, and lead in the field of emergency care. Course Includes:
Upon successful completion of the BLS Instructor Program, students receive an AHA BLS Instructor course completion card, valid for two years.
Steps of becoming a BLS Instructor:
1. Have a current AHA BLS Provider certification. (This certification must be valid at the time of taking the instructor class. Expired certification cards will not be accepted. American Red Cross certification or other non-AHA certifications are not accepted when becoming an AHA Instructor.)
2. Complete the AHA BLS Instructor Essentials Online Course - Access will be provided within 3 business days of registration.
3. Attend the BLS Instructor Classroom Course
4. Monitoring of instructor teaching first class (courses are held at URMC CEL)
Cost: $150
Note: Instructor candidates are responsible for ensuring they have access to ALL current BLS Provider and Instructor manuals.
