This month’s Clinical & Translational Science Institute presentation will be given by Dr. Ashkan Ertefaie from the Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology.
Dr. Ertefaie will be discussing his Pilot Award grant, and his use of mediation analysis and machine-based learning to examine air pollutants that mediate the effect of policy actions on birth outcome. The existing methods with multiple mediators on the causal pathway from policy to the birth outcome either assume that the list of true mediators is known a priori, or include all the available mediators in the analysis. Mediation analysis seeks to explain the role of causal mechanisms that transmit these effects.
CME credits are available, and we will have ASL interpreters in attendance. Light refreshments will be provided.
