Rain Bosworth, Ph.D., will present "The Impact of Sensory and Language Experience on Perception."
Dr. Rain Bosworth considers herself a developmental vision scientist, dedicated to studying how early sensory and language experiences shape visual abilities later in life. She will present her research showing that early sensory and language experiences during development do change vision and cognition in ways that reflect the dynamic adaptability of the human brain. Next, she will discuss these findings within an ecological context, asking a more holistic question: How do our sensory and language experiences impact the ways we interact with our multisensory environments? From this work, we can learn what the visual strengths are that the resilient, innovative human brain devises to accommodate to different forms of sensory input over the lifespan.
