The 2023 Summer Research Symposium hosted by the David T. Kearns Center is scheduled for July 28th in the Feldman Ballroom in Frederick Douglass Commons. The symposium will celebrate the accomplishments of over 60 research scholars who participated in a ten-week summer research program at the University of Rochester. The symposium is held every year to give scholars the opportunity to showcase their research and prepare for professional conference presentations. The research students come from both the University of Rochester as well as other institutions across the country and are in programs that include the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program, and REU’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Data Science, Chemistry and Physics and Astronomy. The symposium will resemble more of a conference style format this year, with oral presentations happening in breakout rooms (Douglass 401, 403, Humanities Center Conference Room D) and poster sessions happening in Feldman Ballroom. There will also be two panel discussions during the event, with each program nominating one student to present on a panel with their colleagues, which will be followed by immediate feedback from a moderator and questions from the audience.

The panel discussions will take place from 9:20am-9:50am and 1:15pm-1:45pm. The oral presentations will take place from 10:10am to 11:15am and 1:55pm to 3:10pm and the poster sessions will take place from 11:30am to 12:30pm and 3:20pm to 4:20pm.
