The Department of Surgery’s Resident Research Symposium will be held on May 7 at 7 a.m. in the Class of ‘62 Auditorium. This symposium brings in fascinating keynote speakers who share their research and spend time discussing the unique opportunities and challenges of the surgeon-scientist with residents, postdocs, medical students, and other trainees.
Visiting professor Mayur B. Patel, MD, MPH, FACS, FCCM, a professor of surgery, of hearing and speech sciences, and of neurological surgery, and the Ingram Chair in Surgical Sciences Education at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine is this year’s keynote speaker.
The Resident Research Symposium includes an abstract competition in which participants have the opportunity to present their research, followed by a research poster presentation competition from the Department of Surgery Residents in the Flaum Atrium. Awards are available to those whose presentations and posters are scored the highest by a panel of judges.
