Presentation 2:  What's New in Thyroid Nodule Cytology & Post-FNA Management, presented by Benjamin Gigliotti, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, University of Rochester Medical Center.

Educational Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation participants should be able to:

Presentation 1:

1.  Review ultrasound imaging characteristics for the assessment of risk of malignancy in thyroid nodules.

2.  Discuss current guidelines for ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration of thyroid nodules.

Presentation 2:

1.  Understand the molecular pathogenesis of thyroid cancer and how new insights have led to advancements in molecular testing and detection of cancer.

2.  Appreciate a cytology-based approach to management of thyroid nodules including how pathology and molecular testing can inform follow up surveillance and the need for surgery.
