Breast milk pumps need to be cleaned as many as eight times a day; for busy parents caring for their newborns in the NICU, automating the process would be a game-changer. RIT biomedical engineering and electrical engineering students are working with URMC's Department of Pediatrics to design a breast milk pump automatic washer. The RIT students are studying consumer preference in every aspect of the design and will visit the NICU Family Lounge to gather feedback from staff and NICU families. Stop by and provide feedback that the students will use to build a first-of-its-kind product and eventually bring it to market.
