“We don’t see things as they are; we see them as we are.”-Anais Nin

Higher education often prides itself on creating a culture of 'great minds think differently', yet implicit, often culturally-specific concepts about justice and blame shape our views, impacting both collegial and personal relationships.

During this session, we will explore our concepts about blame and justice:

  • Where do they come from? How does our socialization shape our views?
  • How do these views and values impact our capacity for critical thinking, learning, managing conflicts, and fostering meaningful relationships, especially with those whose lived experiences differ from our own?

This conversation is part of the UR’s celebration of International Education Week #IEW and International Restorative Justice Week.  Open to students, faculty and staff. Cosponsored by the Office of University Engagement and Enrichment, the Susan B. Anthony Center, and the Office for Global Engagement.
