This year’s summit will keep the same virtual format as last year, allowing participants to attend the one-hour sessions from anywhere.

One of the highlights of this year’s summit is a timely discussion on the release of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s (AACN) State of DNP Education in 2022 Report. Published in June, this study shares national trends in DNP education, data on increasing diversity among DNP students, the impact of DNPs across patient care, education and policy development; and other insights and recommendations.

Three distinguished speakers will address the impact of DNP education starting on Oct. 14, and continuing Oct. 21 and Oct. 28. Each webinar will begin at 1 p.m.

  • Danielle McCamey, DNP, CRNP, ACNP-BC, FCCP, assistant dean for clinical practice and relationships at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, will kick off the 2022 DNP Summit on Oct. 14 with a presentation on "DNPs of Color: Changing the Game and Forging New Paths." McCamey is the founder, CEO and president of DNPs of Color, Inc., a national organization that builds community for nurses of color through networking, mentorship, and advocacy to increase diversity in doctoral studies, clinical practice, and leadership.

  • On Oct. 21, three featured speakers will present presenting “Academic & Practice Leader Perspectives: AACN's 2022 State of DNP Education Report” on Oct. 21. Speakers on this panel include Lisa Kitko, PhD, RN, FAHA, FAAN, the new dean of the University of Rochester School of Nursing, and Karen Keady, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, vice president and chief nursing executive at the University of Rochester Medical Center, and Shannon K. Idzik, DNP, CRNP, FAANP, FAAN, associate dean of the DNP program at University of Maryland School of Nursing. In this webinar, Idzik, Keady and Kitko will discuss their perspectives on the report’s findings, including national trends in DNP programs and insights from employers and graduates on the value of DNP education.

  • Pam Jones, DNP, RN, FAAN, associate vice chancellor for Health and Wellness at Vanderbilt University, will deliver the final DNP Summit presentation, "Building Organizational Resilience in Turbulent Times,” on Oct. 28. Jones, who has more than 30 years of nursing leadership experience, oversees all aspects of the Vanderbilt's strategic health and wellness priorities, including the current response to the COVID-19 pandemic and collaborative health and wellness efforts with Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Over the past 18 months, she has also served as co-commander of the Public Health Central Command Center that leads all aspects of Vanderbilt’s COVID-19 response.
