DESCRIPTION:In the fifty years since Shostakovich's death\, his music is in
 creasingly relevant and more alive than ever. In a series of five concerts 
 during the week of September 22\, Eastman joins communities around the worl
 d in celebrating the music of Shostakovich in the fiftieth anniversary year
  of his death (1975).\n\nThe inspiration for this week came form Professor 
 Mikhail Kopelman\, whose recital of Shostakovich string quartets and a pian
 o trio will be performed on Shostakovich's birthdate\, September 25. Profes
 sor Alexander Kobrin's reictal will feature the three piano and string sona
 tas\, Eastman Virtuosi will feature the Piano Quintet\, plus solo piano mus
 ic performed by Professor Marina Lomazov\, and a clarient trio by Shostakov
 ich's most beloved student\, Galina Ustvolskaya. In addition\, two Shostako
 vich symphonies will be performed by Eastman's ensembles.\n\n\nWatch the li
