 \, our medical learners also undertake great journeys. For some\, their tr
 ips might involve geographic treks\; however\, all will undertake great pr
 ivate journeys across any number of terrains in the name of professional i
 dentity formation. In this session\, we will consider professional identit
 y formation as a form of immigration. Through this framing\, we will consi
 der the deeply personal—and sometimes painful—work that is involved in
  taking on the responsibilities of the white coat.\n\n \n\nLearning Object
 ives:\nAfter attending this presentation\, participants will be able to: \
 n    1. Understand professional identity formation (PIF) as a personal and
  social process\;\n    2. Describe the reasons why\, for many\, PIF is a t
 ransformative process that begins well before matriculation\;\n    3. Reco
 gnize the dangers of PIF that have been reported in the literature\; and\n
     4. Describe how recognizing PIF as subjectification can help address t
 he dangers of the PIF immigration journey.\n\n \n\nA light lunch will be p
