Uncover URMC's past and work to build a more equitable future. You’re invited to a powerful evening exploring systemic racism at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC).

Wendy Gonaver, a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Health Humanities & Bioethics, will guide us through a revamped version of Remembering 1619, the powerful exhibit created in 2020 by members of the Student National Medical Association. Examining the Past: The Struggle for Racial Equity at URMC uses newly available archival materials and oral histories to delve deeper into the legacy of slavery in the United States, Rochester, and, critically, within URMC itself.
