Several times each year, the Memorial Art Gallery opens its doors and offers Rochester area families and community members the opportunity to learn more about specific cultures. These events for all ages feature hands-on art activities, music and dance demonstrations, storytelling, and a variety of cultural displays.
At 2 pm, Bernice Steinhardt will talk on Memories of Survival as a part of Art and Remembrance (2010). In 1942, at the age of 15, Esther Nisenthal Krinitz left her family and escaped the Nazis. In an effort to remember, and to heal, Esther embroidered her story into fabric panels. Her daughter Bernice adds insightful narrative to each panel. A book signing will follow.
Suggested donation $5 per group.
