Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester

This symposium is organized as a part of the Central New York Humanities Corridor research consortium, Finding a Path Forward: Addressing Inequitable Museum Practices Working Group. The goals of the symposium are to create a shared understanding of critical issues, to identify barriers to success, and to establish a collaborative cohort for sustained effort and change. The symposium is open to undergraduate and graduate students, professors, and museum staff from Working Group partners. Through a combination of a keynote speaker, presentations by Working Group members, and robust dialogue, the symposium will serve as a foundation for exploring key issues and highlighting work already underway. Furthermore, it will lay a foundation for identifying possible solutions, building a shared enthusiasm for addressing the issues in an ongoing and systematic way. Time will be allotted to discuss how best to leverage the ideas and possible solutions generated during the symposium.

This event is FREE - coffee and lunch are provided.
