Hindu Students' Association: Chai Chat

Join HSA for a discussion on cultural appropriation! Cultural appropriation is defined as the adoption of the customs and practices of a given culture by members of a different, and often historically oppressive, culture. Cultural appropriation has become a hot topic in recent years, and artists as revered as Beyonce have come under fire for appropriating Indian and Hindu culture. We are curious what the campus community has to hear on the subject: Is cultural appropriation okay? Why? Under what circumstances, if any, is it acceptable? These are just a few of the questions that we'd like to develop a perspective on. We would love to hear your thoughts!
