Improving the Identification and Management of Elder Abuse and Neglect: A Training for Health Care Professionals

Elder abuse and neglect are common and have severe consequences. Mistreatment affects as many as 10% of community-dwelling older adults and includes physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, psychological abuse / emotional abuse, and financial exploitation. This workshop will cover the prevalence of elder abuse, clinical signs of abuse, neglect and financial exploitation, community resources, and relevance to health care professionals through lecture and case study presentations.
