About this Event
Join a two-day seminar on Machiavelli: Power, Princes, People, Populism. Lessons for the Contemporary World. The seminar will take place via zoom and will consist of:
1. Oct. 15, a presentation by Nadia Urbinati (Columbia University) followed by some brief remarks by Sean Erwin (Barry University) and
2. Oct. 29, a presentation by Maurizio Viroli (Princeton University) followed by some brief remarks by Laurie Naranch (Siena College).
In the spirit of a seminar, both presentations will be followed by ample time for participants’ remarks, questions, and considerations.
You can register for one or both seminars by going to https://rit.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_7X6f3KHmS7SsqEp6slgwuw or go to the RIT events calendar (https://www.rit.edu/events/), select the pertinent date, and click on the “register” box on the top right.
Please contact silvia.benso@rit.edu if you encounter problems with the registration or would like additional information. And please feel free to forward this invitation to other potentially interested individuals, including students.
The seminar is organized in collaboration with colleagues at the University of Rochester (Donatella Stocchi-Perucchio), Syracuse University (Stefano Giannini), and Cornell University (Timothy Campbell). We are part of a working group called Theorizing Italy, supported by the Central New York Humanities Corridor through funding from the Andrew Mellon Foundation.
