Come and hear about Bernard de Colmont, a French ethnologist who went to the borderlands of Mexico and Guatemala in the '30s to study, film, and record the so-called "lost tribe" of the Lacandón, a people living in the remote mountains of Chiapas, then considered to the the closest living descendants of the Maya.  Professor Richard Ivan Jobs will talk about how he came across the story and chose to present it (along with anthropologist Steven Van Wolputte) in the form of a graphic history, In the Land of the Lacandón: A Graphic History of Adventure and Imperialism.
