Open quilt-making sessions on Mondays and Thursday at Wilson Commons!
Let’s gather, stitch, and use our creativity as we fashion a community Mending quilt. The Mending Project* is a six-week residency organized by the Program of Dance and Movement and sponsored by the University of Rochester in collaboration with community.
Philadelphia multidisciplinary artist mike durkin will conduct sharing circles while participants make the their own quilt squares. Conversation topics would revolve around mending in various contexts. Durkin will provide materials to make the quilt squares (or bring your own!), demonstrate mending techniques , and share examples of previous quilts. While techniques will be based in tradition, experimentation with patterns, design, and construction will be inherent to all sessions.
On Campus sessions will take place at Wilson Commons: Hirst Lounge OR Havens Lounge.
(please look for signs.)
Quilting sessions are free and open to UR Community.
Mondays 4 - 6 pm
