Attend a celebration of the Hopeman Carillon and the music of Dr. Joanne Shenandoah, a Grammy-winning Wolf Clan, Oneida artist.
The pop-up will include: Students from MUR 104 and 204 performing on the Carillon and discussing their research; livestream of the Carillon performances; an exhibition about the Hopeman Carillon and Joanne Shenandoah’s music and Native American background; listening station featuring music from 10 of Shenandoah’s CDs; viewing of the film Iroquois Creation Story; representatives from the Native American Cultural Center performing and discussing treaties and native dance; a collection of books relating to Native American music.
There will also be a table display of wampum reproductions and discussion by Dr. Richard Hamell, UR alumnus.
