About this Event
View map Free EventViolin performance graduate of the Eastman School of Music Lauren Alexandra Haley '13E is a professional violinist, pedagogy expert, and the author of Kids Aren’t Lazy: Developing Motivation & Talent Through Music.
By defining motivation as the learned rush of joy that comes from conquering challenges and talent as the sum of one's skills (that make learning new skills easier), Haley reframes the way parents and educators understand the power of music education. With an emphasis on communication, Kids Aren’t Lazy empowers families and teachers by giving them breakthrough strategies that foster musical proficiency and cultivate healthy behavioral patterns in all areas of study.
Haley is the founder of Lauren Haley Studios, which enrolls 50 young musicians and their families in Houston, TX.
In September 2019, Haley did a brief Q&A with the Eastman School of Music's Institute for Music Leadership. Read it here.
