The River Campus Libraries invites you to attend a Neilly Author Series talk from Gitanjali Rao, an inventor, author, scientist, and engineer. Rao will be discussing her book A Young Innovator’s Guide to STEM: 5 Steps to Problem Solving for Students, Educators, and Parents.

As an innovator, Rao developed “Tethys,” a lead-detection tool; “Epione,” a device for early diagnosis of prescription opioid addiction; and an anti-cyberbullying service that uses AI and natural language processing called “Kindly.” For these innovations and STEM workshops she conducts around the world, she has received prestigious recognition that includes America’s Top Young Scientist, a place in Forbes' 30 Under 30, and being named Time’s first-ever “Kid of the Year.” She also received the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s President’s Environmental Youth Award.

The 2022-2023 Neilly Author Series season is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the University of Rochester's Department of Psychiatry. The books highlighted in this season's Neilly talks support key concepts in the biopsychosocial model—developed by University professors George Engel and John Romano to serve as the cornerstone of psychiatric education and training.
