Meliora Weekend 2023

Bring your instrument and join fellow alumni and community members in a fun and informal play-along session with Rochester’s New Horizons Symphonic Band under the direction of Larry Neeck ̓90E (MM) and M. David Shemancik ̓79E. They’ll cover a variety of intermediate level pieces, drawing from marches, concert works, transcriptions, and Broadway/film music. (Please note that sheet music and stands will be provided on site, but instruments will not be.) Founded in 1991 by Eastman Professor Emeritus Roy Ernst, New Horizons began as a 30-member band in Rochester, NY where musicians of all ages and abilities could play together. Today, New Horizons has grown into a program that includes 10,000 musicians in 215 bands across the United States, as well as in Canada, Ireland, Australia, and several other countries.
