Panel Discussion: History & Challenges of Asian/Pacific Americans in STEM Fields

The University of Rochester ECE and CS Departments cordially invite you to join this special event and celebrate the Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month. Historically, Asian/Pacific Americans have made significant contributions in science and technology. However, they have also experienced persistent discrimination, unconscious bias, and stereotyping in society, including in higher education. Today, there are strong feelings of anxiety and urgency among Asian students and faculty as they witness recent hateful and tragic events across the nation. This panel will discuss the historical and current contributions by Asian Americans in STEM fields and address the challenges Asian/Pacific Americans face in the new era.
