Extracellular vesicles as immune response modulators in bladder cancer
Presented by Carlos Ortiz-Bonilla, MS, PhD Candidate.
Extracellular vesicles (EVs), small double-membrane vesicles, have recently gained attention because of their potential roles in mediating immune responses and cancer treatments. Here we studied their roles in modulating immune responses in bladder cancer. We demonstrated that tumor-derived EVs can function as a cancer vaccine to prevent tumor establishment in vivo and enhance current immunotherapy efficacy in a mouse model for BCG immuno-therapy.
