''Mechanisms of Epstein-Barr Virus Latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1) trafficking to extracellular vesicles & tumor microenvironment remodeling' - Presented by Dingani Nkosi, MMBS, PhD.

Latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1), the major EBV oncoprotein is released from infected cells in extracellular vesicles (EVs) and transferred to neighboring uninfected cells. LMP1 containing EVs enhance cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and radio resistance. Despite the significance of LMP1-modified EVs in EBV malignancies, very little is known about how this viral protein hijacks the host EV pathways for secretion to remodel the cellular microenvironment. My talk starts to shed more light on the different mechanisms responsible for orchestrating the incorporation of this viral protein into EVs and how LMP1 modified EVs remodel the tumor microenvironment.
