Making Greater Rochester Safer and Healthier with Cutting Edge Research and Child Abuse Prevention Efforts: The Impact of the Mt. Hope Family Center
Speaker: Jennie Noll, PhD, Director of Mt. Hope Family Center; Professor of Psychology, URMC
The integration of NIH-funded research into the clinical services of UR’s Mt. Hope Family Center will be showcased along with its impact on families and children at risk for child abuse and neglect. The biological embedding of early-life stress will be discussed along with behavioral interventions shown to mitigate the impact of trauma on stress-mediated processes that help explain mental and physical health disparities. At the conclusion of this presentation participants should be able to:
1) Understand the scope and gravity of child abuse & neglect
2) Understand the biological embedding of early life stress and adversity on health disparities
3) Understand the impact of community-wide, place-based interventions for the primary prevention of child sexual abuse
