About this Event
Rettner Hall, Rochester, NY 14611
Did you know that up to 2 billion birds will crash into windows and die every year in the United States? Come to this Humanities Project event to make art about birds and learn how to prevent these deadly collisions from occuring!
On Monday, May 5th, between 1 and 4 PM, the artists Holly Greenberg (Syracuse University) and Mizin Shin (University of Rochester) will offer two public art workshops in tandem in the atrium of Rettner Hall:
1-3 PM: Greenberg will lead two hour-long workshops, one at 1 and another at 2 PM, that turns scrap fabric into bird sculptures.
1-3 PM: Drop by anytime to make bird prints with Shin using drypoint and collography techniques.
3 PM: the anthropologist Richard Fadok (University of Rochester) will moderate a public dialogue between Greenberg and Shin about the role that the humanities and arts can play in responding to ecological issues like biodiversity loss. A Q&A will follow.
This event is open to the general public, including students, faculty, and staff. No registration is required.
