Dr. Mendoza is Commissioner of Public Health for Monroe County and Associate Professor at the University of Rochester in the Departments of Family Medicine, Public Health Sciences, and Nursing. Bridging his experience leading clinical practice transformation with his passion for systems change to improve population health, Dr. Mendoza joined the Health Department in April 2016 with a goal of strengthening the connections between clinical medicine and public health in our community. He is board certified in family medicine, and in addition to his responsibilities as Commissioner, Dr. Mendoza is an active clinician and educator practicing both ambulatory and inpatient family medicine.
Dr. Mendoza’s presentation entitled “The Opioid Crisis in Monroe County: Past, Present, and Future” will review successes and areas of opportunity in community response, outline future work needed and discuss the future after the epidemic.
