David Q. Rich, ScD, MPH, Associate Professor of Public Health Sciences, Medicine, and Environmental Medicine, gives a presentation on "Air pollution exposure and effects on fetal growth: From Beijing to Rochester."
Summary: Previous studies done around the world have examined whether maternal air pollution exposure during pregnancy affects multiple pregnancy outcomes including preterm delivery (<37 weeks gestation), pregnancy complications, and fetal growth restriction. This presentation will discuss these previous studies including our own work in Beijing and Rochester that have examined to what degree air pollution exposures affect fetal growth. Further, it will describe our current work examining potential mechanisms of this association, conducted in both Beijing and Rochester.
