Nicole Yunger Halpern, a theoretical quantum physicist at the Joint Center for Quantum Information and Computer Science in Maryland, re-envisions the science of energy developed during the 19th century for today's world. Her book, "Quantum Steampunk: The Physics of Yesterday's Tomorrow," received the PROSE Award for Popular Science and Mathematics from the Association of American Publishers.
