Renaissance Revisited

This Third Thursday concert showcases the splendor of late Renaissance music in Europe.  Acclaimed cornetto player, Kiri Tollaksen, joins the Christ Church Schola Cantorum of Rochester, NY, directed by Stephen Kennedy, in a varied program of sacred vocal and instrumental works. 

It features music from Italy, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, and England.  Composers include Orlando Gibbons, Hans Leo Hassler, Biagio Marini, Claudio Monteverdi, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Samuel Scheidt, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Thomas Tallis, and Tomás Luis de Victoria. Featured performers include Kiri Tollaksen, cornetto; Christ Church Schola Cantorum, directed by Stephen Kennedy; Boel Gidholm, baroque violin; Sarah McConnell and Mary Mowers, soprano; Ben David Aronson, Dillon Downey, Jordan Moore, sackbuts; Oliver Brett, Naomi Gregory, Malcolm Matthews, and Amanda Mole, organ.
