Join the University of Rochester's Goergen Institute of Data Science (GIDS) as it hosts its annual fall meeting with the ROC Data Science Meetup. Connect with faculty, students and staff from GIDS as well as area data science professionals for refreshments from 5:30-6:15pm for a reception on the 2nd floor of the new Wegman's Hall. We will then move to the auditorium to hear lightning talks from local industry involved in data science.
Two companies involved in Internet of Things (IoT) will be featured during the presentation.
Paul Yacci from IIT, Inc. will discuss developing industrial IoT devices, and the analytics driving them for the industrial market. They will cover the i-ALERT product line from sensors and gateways to analytics and how it can drive monitoring and predictive maintenance of industrial equipment.
Bahareh Modanloo from Poseidon Systems, will discuss applying data mining to wind turbine gearbox condition monitoring. Poseidon Systems develops and manufactures real-time condition monitoring solutions that provide users with reduced O&M costs and improved asset reliability. Their core expertise is in fluid diagnostics, particularly metallic wear debris monitoring and oil condition monitoring.
Anyone who is interested in data science and its applications is welcome to attend.
Co-sponsored by Goergen Institute for Data Science, Undergraduate Data Science Council, and ROC Data Science Meetup.
