Rochester Creators Guest Lecture

Looking for opportunities to be creative and/or explore your own creative identity?

Rochester Creators (CAS 162) welcomes two guest speakers next week to talk about their creative identities and endeavors, inviting you to do the same.

Semih will be discussing some of his own core experiences and concepts around creativity, including:

  • Biases towards creativity (why is there a perception towards what creativity looks like? is everyone creative or are some things just hobbies?
  • Why do we profile, such as scientists are geeks vs artists are creative souls?
  • Juggling a life of creativity and a career.

On Thursday, February 25th we welcome poet and mixed-media artist Kira Preneta, who will use the works of writers and thought leaders such as Audre Lorde and her own personal explorations as a maker to explore WHERE our creativity comes from and how to cultivate our own “creative yes” in our work.

We are opening up these guest lectures (on zoom) to any undergraduate, graduate, or staff member who is interested in participating! If that’s you, please reach out to Sarah at sgerin@library.rochester.edu. We will have additional guest lecturers this semester, so stay tuned for those.

These events are open to any University undergraduate or graduate students, faculty, or staff member. To register to attend, email sgerin@library.rochester.edu.
