Run, walk, or pledge your support at the 17th annual Rochester River Run/Walk 5K, celebrating and supporting transplant recipients at Strong Memorial Hospital and organ donors.
Co-sponsored by Friends of Strong and the hospital’s transplant units, the River Run benefits transplant patients who are awaiting or recovering from organ transplant surgery. All proceeds go toward helping our patients pay for expenses associated with lifelong care, such as life-saving medications and travel expenses.
Get more information on the River Run/Walk 5K, collecting pledges, and race day logistics on the Friends of Strong website or RiverRun.urmc.edu. Register by July 23 to receive a free athletic tech-shirt to wear on race day! (Online registration continues through Aug. 2; on-site registration is available on race day.)
Pledge Your Support
Patients who come to Strong for heart, liver, pancreas, and kidney transplants often need financial assistance while they await and recover from surgery. In addition to costly medical treatment, the need to travel—some at great distance—can add strain on them and their families. Run/Walk participants are encouraged to collect pledge donations to help us fulfill these needs.
Pledges can be submitted at race packet pick up, on race day, or online at RiverRun.urmc.edu. Donations can also be made via cash or check—please have the sponsor note the name of the participating runner or walker in the notes area of the River Run registration form.
Today is the perfect time to consider adding your name to the organ donor registry. Visit PassLifeOn.org for more info.
