This annual 5K event supports the Patient Needs Fund at Wilmot Cancer Institute. The Patient Needs Fund is a donation-based fund that provides patients with assistance, often in the form of gift cards to local gas, grocery, and general merchandise stores such as Kwik Fill, Wegmans, and Target. The amount provided is based upon the patient’s needs; as many patients as possible can be assisted with a donation to this unique fund. This is the power of the Patient Needs Fund; patients are able to focus more on their treatment and fighting cancer, and not on the financial burden that so many of us have.
The Scare Brain Cancer Away 5K course runs through the village of East Rochester being very well marked with two water stops. The race is part of the “Rochester Runner of the Year Series” and receives outstanding support from residents that cheer participants to the finish line.
Come dressed in a costume for an opportunity to win a gift certificate to a local restaurant. And, as always, there is plenty of food and the opportunity to take home some great goodies from the bake sale that is put on annual by the family of Steve Ross, the original recipient of funds from this event.
You must be registered by Sept. 30 to guarantee a t-shirt. Groups/teams welcome! Register your team right here on RunSignUp and your whole group will be acknowledged when we present the check to the Needs Fund.
