Join us for a vibrant celebration of Nowruz, the Persian New Year and Spring Equinox! In partnership with Shahin Monshipour of SeeMorgh, LLC, the University of Rochester’s Program of Dance and Movement invites you to an engaging event honoring the rich traditions, diverse histories, and cultural treasures of Persian heritage. 

Experience an array of artifacts, Persian tea and sweets, and educational materials that showcase the customs and beauty of Persian culture. The program features lectures by Fatemeh Keshavarz, James Bader, and Shahin Monshipour, as well as a rare opportunity to hear live Persian music in Rochester by a chamber ensemble assembled by Mona Seghatoleslami. Enjoy mesmerizing dances choreographed by Dylaina Young and Natalia Lisina, and much more!

Event Schedule:

  • 2:00pm—Lectures begin
  • 3:00pm—Music performances, dances, and cultural exhibits
  • 6:00pm—Student social
