Science and Sustainability Seminar: Methane Extraction in Lake Kivu

Kristin Doughty, an associate professor of anthropology, will present "Converting Threats to Power: Methane Extraction in Lake Kivu."

Professor Doughty’s current research project, Threats to Power: Cultural Politics of Energy and Unity examines the intersection of energy politics and postgenocide reconstruction in Rwanda through a focus on methane extraction in Lake Kivu. This research is funded by grants from the Wenner Gren foundation and National Science Foundation.

The seminar is sponsored by the Environmental Sustainability UCIS and Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences.
