The annual Spring Exploration and Experimental Dances, a concert of dance with work by twelve undergraduate choreographers, six student lighting designers,  eleven costume designers, and the Dance Program’s Director!  The S.E.E.D concert concludes the 2023 three-week inspireDance Festival which has offered numerous workshops, performances, and guest artists throughout the month of March.

S.E.E.D presents new works from student choreographers Rachel Bast, Summer Koltay, Roni Kirson, Emily Butler, Reece Stallwitz, George Mechalke, Ezra Tock, Quinn (Wanqing) Yu, Doris (Yuehan) Zhang, Luiza Budet Gruel, Glory Linebach, Julia Martin, and Stella Lempert (concert order). The concert opens with Bast’s group piece, Supercell, a group piece whose movement echoes the rotating winds of this stormy supercell phenomenon. Each piece following investigates aspects of the human condition such as Zhang’s captivating duet, Dark Tide, or Gruel’s dance, Longing. There are also tongue and cheek pieces such as Mechalke’s trio Interruptions, or the satirical duet Thanatophobia (Anxiety for Death) danced and created by Julia Martin and Glory Linebach. Quinn Yu’s dance, Interweave, is inspired by a Chinese folktale and offers a dramatic narrative with the use of traditional swords, scarves, and parasols. Closing the concert's first half is Ezra Tock’s no-holds-barred, hip hop inspired, Stick It.
