Strategic Faculty Career Advancement Conversations with a Former Chair

Topic: Managing up and down

Join us for the final talk in a set of lectures and workshops led by Eric Caine, M.D., focused on the career development needs of junior women faculty learning from a former chair about negotiation, promotion, mentoring and management.

Caine has been a faculty member at the URMC since 1978 and led the Department of Psychiatry from 1993-2017. From the 1970s-1990s, his clinical duties involved inpatient and outpatient attending care, psychopharmacology consultation, and specialty work in geriatrics, neuropsychology, and neuropsychiatry.  His grant funded research and education activities in the US and internationally have focused for more than three decades on preventing suicide, attempted suicide, and their antecedent risks—an entry key to the field of “public health and preventive psychiatry” and its community and policy implications. Dr. Caine has mentored postdoctoral fellows and faculty since the 1980s—locally, nationally, and internationally.

Sponsored by URMC for Inclusion and Culture and URMC Junior Women Faculty Group.

Monthly series are interactive and require no additional preparation. Attend one lecture or attend all of the series. Lectures will be held on Thursdays—location and times will vary.
