Meet the Artist
Scattarreggia is a half-Italian, half-American lyric soprano from Spain praised for her warm, dramatic tone and her facility with languages. Sofia is currently a doctoral student at Eastman and holds an MM in Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music and a BM in Voice Performance from Florida State University. She has been cast in roles including Eurydice in Gluck’s Orphée et Eurydice, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Lady with a Cake Box from Argento’s Postcard from Morocco, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, and Phaino in Soper’s Here be Sirens.
Sofia has received numerous accolades throughout her opera studies, including receiving FSU’s Hannah J. Beaulieu Award in Opera Development, singing in the Metropolitan Opera’s Laffont Competition, winning first place in the NYSMTA Heddy Killian Vocal Competition, placing third in Eastman’s Friends of Eastman Opera Competition, and being inducted into the national music honour society Pi Kappa Lambda.
