About this Event
When conducting Exception from Informed Consent (EFIC) research, it is vital to get input from the communities that may be impacted and to ensure they are fully informed. Francis Guyette, MD, MPH, from the University of Pittsburgh will share how to build a community consultation and public disclosure plan for an EFIC study.
1. Community consultation /public disclosure is not one size fits all. Different communities require different strategies.
2. Community consultation requires active listening and good survey tools.
3. Electronic means of communication are necessary but not sufficient.
4. All studies have vulnerable or underrepresented populations, partner with them.
5. Don’t pay for the same real estate twice. Make your public disclosure efforts broad.
