Visual and Performance art created and performed by UofR students and member of Artists Coalition for Change Artists. The program is in partnership with the Program of Dance and Movement at the University of Rochester.
Co-Producers Jeremy Tjhung, Mariah Steele (Dance faculty) and Rose Pasquarello Beauchamp (Dance faculty) have facilitated an evening filled with interactive visual art, film and performance. This interdisciplinary evening promises to engage audience members’ imaginations and conscience as they wander through an elaborate environment exploring relevant issues of equity, justice and human rights - ultimately reminding us to get out the vote.
In a spoken word performance, Just Poets enact “BURNING HOUSE...Democracy on Fire!” This is a riveting cycle of dramatic poetry, performed by Almeta Whitis, Bart White and Jennifer Maloney to voice the fears and humiliations of many with an urgent call to vote on November 6. It reveals how exercising our constitutionally guaranteed right to vote is a historically valuable act of “helping somebody and helping yourself” -- of answering society today's truly important question . . . “Who really is my neighbor”?
