This presentation will highlight emerging digital and telehealth strategies designed to extend access to evidence-based behavioral health interventions across clinical settings, including primary care and oncology care. Dahne will discuss the implications of these approaches for improving patient outcomes and advancing access to mental health services. The presentation will also summarize methods to enhance the rigor of remote and decentralized clinical trials, with a focus on innovations in remote biomarker capture and approaches to prevent fraudulent study entry.
Bio:
Jennifer Dahne is a tenured professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she holds the Melvyn Berlinsky Distinguished Endowed Chair in Cancer Research. Her research focuses on leveraging digital health technologies to reduce the public health impact of behavioral health disorders, particularly depression and tobacco use, and on advancing decentralized clinical trial methods to improve feasibility and rigor in behavioral health research.
Within MUSC’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (SCTR), Dr. Dahne directs both the Pilots Program and Element E. She also serves as director of Research Innovation and Integration within the Office of the Vice President for Research. An academic entrepreneur, Dahne has co-founded two digital health startups and serves as the inaugural Director of MUSC’s Innovation Sciences Unit. Her work has been continuously supported by the National Institutes of Health through multiple R01, R21, R41, R42, and K23 awards.
