About this Event
755 Library Road, Rochester, NY 14626
The Lake Erie Latin American Cultural Studies Group conference will cover different aspects of relocation in a foreign space and in a foreign language by communities of Latin American origin. In addition, presenters will explore in how many ways Spanish-speaking communities have left their mark in a new landscape. Immigrant communities have designed different routes in their journey to the ‘North’ to build a new homeland. That way, these traveling communities have experienced the transfer of their ‘know-how’ to new territories where they have arrived with their cultural tool-bags. Language, policy, identity, voice are some of the perspectives we’ll be sharing.
The conference is sponsored by Central New York Humanities Corridor, LELACS (Lake Erie Latin American Cultural Studies Group), and the University of Rochester.
