Abstract: Quantum memory is a critical component for the advancement of quantum technologies, and serves a similar role to classical memory: information storage. However, unlike classical memory, quantum memory stores quantum states. I'll discuss the state of the art as well as a new ideas that break out of the bandwidth-lifetime regime.
Bio: Marc Currie is a research scientist at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. He received a PhD in 1999 from the University of Rochester ECE Department studying optical methods to observe superconducting single-flux quantum pulses, supervised by Prof. Thomas Y. Hsiang. For over 25 years he has worked in the field of optical spectroscopy. His research contributes to the understanding of optical and electronic phenomena in semiconductors, superconductors, liquids, nanostructures, and low-dimensional materials. He has many publications and awards, but what he values most is his love of science.
