About this Event
Beverly Canin and Janice Tufte, Patient Partners, will present "Patient Partnering in Research Implementation.”
Beverly Canin was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000. She has nearly 25 years of experience as a cancer patient advocate with an interest in breast cancer prevention and risk reduction, decision-making, patient/provider communication, survivorship, health disparities, research translation/implementation, and clinical trials. She serves or has served on the Board of Directors or advisory committees of national, regional, statewide, and international breast cancer and cancer and aging service and advocacy organizations.
Janice Tufte lives in Seattle, WA, and has been involved with health systems research as a patient partner for 12 years, the previous eight years she served as an advisor at her Medical Center Council. Co-creation is a research buzzword zooming around now, though authentic co-creation efforts should incorporate patients, or care partners truly as partners, not as study participants. Janice has served as a co-investigator on two projects and is currently a patient co-lead on a multi-center pragmatic randomized trial that is the largest to date in the condition specific area.
