A University and School Partnership at the Dr. Walter Cooper Academy Village.

Partnerships between Universities and school communities offer several clear benefits that make these opportunities mutually beneficial and collaborative by nature. However, prior to beginning partnership work, there should be an emphasis on developing trusting relationships and establishing a distributive balance of voice and expertise to those at the partnering table. This lunch talk focuses on the emerging work towards a collaborative partnership with the Dr. Walter Cooper Academy (School #10) and with the Warner School’s Childhood and Early Childhood programs to support school-led priorities for Cooper scholars and their families. In the process of supporting schools, University students and faculty equally benefit from these experiences. Session presenters will share their partnership activities, along with the strengths, challenges, and the heart sweat it took to sustain their collective work together. The session will also provide examples of supporting school priorities as part of community-engaged work in graduate-level education courses. The Dr. Walter Cooper community is excited to welcome you to their village for this lunch talk.
