“Women don't get half as much rights as they ought to; we want more, and we will have it.” Sojourner Truth, 1853
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment and the 200th anniversary of the birth of suffrage pioneer Susan B. Anthony, the River Campus Libraries Department of Rare Books, Special Collections, and Preservation (RBSCP) is honored to present We Want More and We Will Have It: Women Running Rochester.
The exhibit showcases some of RBSCP’s wide and varied collections related to the impact women have had on the City of Rochester in spheres that include politics, activism, education, philanthropy, and art.
In addition to the exhibit, there will be a curator's talk on the exhibit starting at 6:30pm in the RBSCP’s Plutzik Room.
There will also be a reception, courtesy of the Friends of the University of Rochester Libraries.
We Want More and We Will Have It is part of Celebration 2020, a University-wide initiative that celebrate the achievements, contributions, and influence of Rochester women—at the University and in the greater community.
This event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in Library Lot.
